Autism and ADHD Assessments
We offer in-depth, compassionate assessments for Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) for children aged 2 and a half years and above, adolescents, and adults. We understand that seeking a diagnosis is a deeply personal and sometimes emotional decision. Whether prompted by long-standing questions, recent challenges, or a desire for better self-understanding, our process is designed to be thorough, respectful, and supportive at every step.
Each assessment is conducted by Dr Giulia Maccarini, a Highly Specialist Practitioner Neuropsychologist with significant experience in working with neurodivergent individuals. From the first enquiry through to the final feedback session, you will be in direct contact with your assessing psychologist, ensuring a consistent, tailored, and person-centred experience. Your story is heard, understood, and honoured throughout the journey.
Our Philosophy on Neurodiversity
We view Autism and ADHD not as deficits to be corrected, but as diverse and meaningful ways of experiencing the world. Neurodivergence encompasses a broad range of traits, strengths, and needs. For many, understanding these aspects through a diagnostic lens can provide empowerment, clarity, and relief.
We adopt a strengths-based, affirming approach, which means we highlight and build upon an individual’s unique attributes while also recognising the genuine difficulties they may face. We recognise that much of the distress experienced by neurodivergent individuals stems from the pressure to conform to neurotypical expectations, as well as from the neurodivergent experience itself.
A diagnosis, when appropriate, can open doors to support in education, employment, relationships, and mental health, ultimately helping people to live more authentically and confidently.
Why Our Fees Reflect the Quality of Our Service
Our assessment fees reflect the depth, expertise, and ethical standards embedded in every part of the process. These are not brief consultations, but multi-stage evaluations that draw on gold-standard diagnostic tools, clinical expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of neurodevelopment.
We follow clinical guidelines set out by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and use validated instruments such as:
-
ADOS-2: The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (Second Edition), a structured observational tool that captures social communication and behaviour.
-
ADI-R or 3Di: In-depth developmental history interviews with parents or carers.
-
Conners and SDQ: Standardised tools for assessing attentional and behavioural traits associated with ADHD.
-
Additional screening questionnaires, informant interviews, and where relevant, liaison with schools, employers, or allied professionals.
These instruments ensure clinical accuracy, diagnostic reliability, and international recognition, including recognition by NHS services. Our post-assessment reports are detailed, thoughtful, and designed to support both understanding and action, whether within the education system, workplace, or personal development.
Our Assessment Packages and Fees
We offer structured packages based on individual needs. The difference in cost reflects the scope of involvement, such as the inclusion of school visits or more complex profiling.
-
Autism Assessment (Standard) – £1990: Full clinical assessment using ADOS-2 and developmental history interviews
-
Autism Assessment (Enhanced) – £2100: As above, with additional school visit and liaison with SENCO or teaching staff
-
ADHD Assessment (Standard) – £1750: Comprehensive clinical assessment using standard ADHD tools and informant input
-
ADHD Assessment (Enhanced) – £1850: As above, with added school or workplace engagement if necessary
-
Combined Autism and ADHD Assessment – £2320: Integrated evaluation of both conditions with combined reporting and recommendations
We offer the option to divide payments into two instalments to support accessibility. (One at the start of the process and one at the final report delivery)
A Step-by-Step Guide to the Assessment Process
We know that the idea of undergoing a formal assessment can feel daunting. That is why we have designed a process that is clear, stepwise, and personally guided by a highly experienced clinician.
-
Initial Screening (Free of Charge) – Your journey begins with a 30-minute online/phone conversation. This gives us a chance to understand your concerns, clarify your goals, and determine whether an assessment is appropriate. This is also a chance for you to ask questions and understand what to expect before any commitment is made.
-
Information Gathering – Once you decide to proceed, we will ask you to complete several developmental and behavioural questionnaires. For children and young people, this will include input from parents or caregivers. For adults, you may be asked to nominate someone who has known you for a long time, such as a parent, sibling, partner or close friend. This stage ensures we build a complete picture of your history and current experiences.
-
Clinical Assessment Sessions – The formal assessment typically involves 2 to 3 sessions, either in-person or online, depending on your needs. These include:
-
A structured developmental interview (ADI-R or 3Di)
-
A direct observational assessment (ADOS-2 for Autism, SDQ/Conners for ADHD)
-
Additional interviews with informants when appropriate
-
Optional liaison with schools or workplaces where relevant, particularly for young people or employed adults.
We always explain the purpose behind each step and adjust our pace and methods to suit your needs.
-
-
Diagnostic Outcome and Feedback – Following the assessment, we will meet with you for a comprehensive feedback session, where we will clearly explain our findings and how we reached them. This may include a confirmed diagnosis, a recommendation for further assessment, or an alternative explanation of your difficulties if appropriate. You will receive a detailed written report, and with your consent, we can share this with your GP, school, or other services.
-
Post-Diagnostic Support – Receiving a diagnosis is just one part of the process. We offer optional post-diagnostic support as a group for psychoeducation in the format of workshops designed to deepen understanding and provide a supportive space to reflect on what the diagnosis means for you or your child.
